A quotation is only as good as the figures behind it. State the aperture, the tolerance, the environment the instrument will stand in, and the date you need it by. The docket below asks for all four.
- Aperture
- Clear aperture in millimetres. The Meridian resolves a 400 mm aperture; smaller and larger work is quoted case by case.
- Tolerance
- State it in wavelengths or microns, or attach a specification sheet. λ/40 P-V is the figure the Meridian holds; work is quoted tighter and looser both.
- Environment
- Bench, vacuum chamber, or exposed summit. Thermal range and vibration matter as much as the instrument itself.
- Timescale
- The date the instrument is needed on site, not the date the order is placed.
